Baltimore and Seattle weekend 8/25

This week we got to use our new Garmin GPS unit. It is going to save our marriage. Now any misunderstanding is blamed on Daniel our British-English navigator that controls our direction. We went to Baltimore to see the Minnesota Twins blast the Oriels out of the very nice and beautiful ball park they have. We did not see Duff from the Ace of Cakes while there, but now that we know how close it is, you know we are going back. Friday we rolled out to Seattle for Mikes college friend Henry's wedding. It was very beautiful and when the bride sang to the groom, everyone (including the 2 of us), was brought to tears. Reception was fun with lots of unique performances from a ballet to an African drum group to Henry singing Lets Stay Together. After the reception we were close enough to run to the Pink Door for the end of the burlesque show and to have a few rounds of Seattle Sloe Gin Fizzes in the cool Seattle world's fair glasses. Sunday we got to see some friends at Golden Gardens for a BBQ and Bonfire. Monday I flew home and Mike got to go to San Diego for work and In & Out burger indulgences. Mikes flight was "delayed" coming home letting him spend a night sleeping in the airport http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20070829-1223-bn29plane.html . Now we are getting out and enjoying our city as it is less hot and humid and Bella and I have been to all sort of monuments by foot, I will take the camera one of these times and show you how magnificent it is.

DC weekend 8/19

Week started out with Screen on the Green outdoor movie showing Casablanca on the Mall, I stayed awake for almost the whole thing. Friday we checked out the Nationals game they were playing the Mets Mike Mulle is a fan so he dressed for the event. It was a quick metro ride to JFK stadium, which seems OK as far as stadiums go, but when the new stadium opens next year 5 blocks from our place and all spanking new, that will be really nice. So we are going to invest in season tickets for the 08 season, the Presidential sightings at the game definitely made that a must do. Instead of doing Hydro races on the jumbo-tron like at Safeco they actually have the 4 presidents on the track running a race, brilliant. OH and the guy singing the national anthem was named D.C. Washington, chew on that. Saturday we hit a Mexican restaurant near Verizon center called Rosa's, the big draw was tableside prepared quac in a cool lava bowl that looks like a bull. Good drinks, good guac (different than Mikes, but he appreciated the presentation and the differences and helped to finish off the bowl) and good service. So far in DC we have had Mexican food 3 times at 3 different locations, and each time it has been good, whew. We saw The Invasion and thought it was good, and filmed in DC so that was fun. We also hit Superbad which was not really so bad. Stay tuned for next weekend when we take a trip to a funny town called Seattle.

DC weekend 8/11

Cooled off a lot this weekend so we went to the town of Dumfries VA to enjoy some Blue Crab, an east coast specialty. We sat on a dock listened to live music, enjoyed the sun, and tore into the poor crabs. Crab was good and very messy but worth the work. And we learned that some people in VA have customized license plates that are worth a photo stop.
